Gina Prince-Bythewood wrote and directed Love and Basketball, earning an Independent Spirit Award for her feature film directorial debut. Prior to this success, Prince-Bythewood had established an illustrious career as a television writer for shows such as A Different World and Felicity and won an NAACP Image Award and two Emmy nominations as writer and director of What About Your Friends, a CBS Schoolbreak Special.
Prince-Bythewood and husband Reggie Rock Bythewood (writer, Get On the Bus) collaborated with Keyana Ray, winner of the 2006 Scenarios USA/Rap-It-Up national writing contest, to turn Keyana's winning script into the screenplay for Reflections. Reflections attracted record-breaking ratings when it premiered on BET on February 4th, 2007.
