Alison Maclean

Director, The Choices We Make (2006 New York City)

Alison Maclean was born in Canada and raised in New Zealand. She began her career making shorts, including Kitchen Sink, which won eight international awards. Her first feature, Crush (1992), starring Marcia Gay Harden, was an official selection at the Cannes Film Festival.

Jesus' Son (1999), starring Billy Crudup and Samantha Morton, won the Baby Lion and OCIC Catholic Awards at the Venice Film Festival. In 2004, she co-directed Persons of Interest, a documentary about Arab/Muslim men detained on immigration charges after Sept.11th. This film was selected for the Sundance Film Festival and the International Human Rights Watch Festival.

Alison has directed episodes of HBO’s "Subway Stories", "Sex and the City" and "Carnivale", as well as "The L Word", "Homicide" and Showtime's new series "The Tudors". She has lived in New York City since 1992.
