Janet Aponte

Writer, From an Objective Point of View (2001 NYC Contest Winner)

"It's really weird 'cause my whole life I just imagined little things and put them on a computer or a notebook and now, they are actually coming to life in front of a camera."

- Janet Aponte

My name is Janet Aponte. I'm sixteen years old. Writing is my entire life. All of my stories have one common link: all of the main characters break away from the life that was laid down for them. Although this doesn't always happen in real life, I hope that, by reading my narratives, people will be able to realize that they don't have to settle for the life that someone else has set out for them. Sometimes I procrastinate when it comes to my homework or I get annoyed when my friends call, because I'm in the middle of a really good part in one of my stories. Writing isn't just my life; it is my reason for life.

Recent Updates: Janet Aponte wrote and Co-Directed From an Objective Point of View when she was a 16 year-old high school student in Queens, NY. Now a junior at Rollins College in Florida, Aponte is working towards a B.A. in Theater with a Minor in Film. She recently began work on her senior thesis, for which she is producing a play about Annie Russell, a famous 20th century actress. When she graduates, Aponte plans to move back to NYC to become a script supervisor and pursue her dream of being a professional screen writer.

Other Info: Janet was a youth juror for the Listenup! Best of 2004 Reel.
