Community Healthcare Network’s Teens P.A.C.T. (Positive Actions and Choices for Teens) program is recruiting peer educators for its highly acclaimed pregnancy prevention initiatives. We are seeking teens that are dedicated, creative, outgoing, have a lot of energy, are natural leaders, and have a strong desire to positively impact their peers and community. Responsibilities of these coveted positions include engaging youth to make positive choices about their sexual health and to seek reproductive healthcare by leading workshops, planning our annual youth conference, creating social marketing tools, conducting street outreach and more.
The deadline for submitting applications is April 30, 2010.
If selected, peer educators will receive approximately 200 hours of paid training in sexual health throughout the summer. Upon completion, they will be required to work after school delivering positive messages to their peers.
This is a highly competitive opportunity. All applicants must meet the following requirements without exception:
1. Candidates must complete and submit applications to either Teens P.A.C.T. office (Harlem or Brooklyn) by April 30, 2010
2. Candidates must be between the ages of 14 and 19 (14th birthday by July 1, 2010)
3. Anyone submitting an application for employment MUST attend our annual conference, More Than Just Sex. Why? The conference is a great way to get a sense of what will be expected of you if you are hired as a peer educator. It’s also an opportunity to meet our current peers and ask questions about the position. Finally, it’s a great way to learn about your sexual health- information you need to be an effective peer educator. Anyone unable to attend the conference must call the Teens P.A.C.T. office prior to the conference to inform staff that they are unable to attend. 4. Candidates must be available for all paid training sessions during July and August: Monday through Thursday, 11-5pm.
